# Peer instruction

Peer instruction is an interactive teaching method in which students discuss underlying concepts with each other during the lecture.

  * [Learning objectives](/teacher-curriculum/exercises/peer-instruction.md#learning-objectives)
  * [Exercises](/teacher-curriculum/exercises/peer-instruction.md#exercises)
  * [Learning Paths](/teacher-curriculum/exercises/peer-instruction.md#learning-paths)

## Learning objectives

* Learn what peer instruction is
* Be able to plan and execute a peer instruction session in class

## Exercises

1. Why do you think peer instruction has been shown to increase learning?
2. When would you use peer instructed learning? When would you not?
3. Plan and execute a peer instruction session with a class you are teaching. Describe the process. Fx what concept did you teach, what concept question did you ask, what were the possible answers.
4. What went well, what did not go so well. Would you do it again?

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://hyfbe.gitbook.io/teacher-curriculum/exercises/peer-instruction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
